Our Story
The Wyoming Coalition for the Homeless (WCH) has been a beacon of hope since 1990, initially raising awareness about homelessness through newsletters and events like Homeless Memorial Day. In 1993, WCH expanded its mission by establishing an empowerment program using the arts, leading to the creation of the Welcome Mat Day Center in 1994, Cheyenne's only day center for the homeless. Over the years, WCH has developed various programs, including a clothing closet, a free laundry facility, and a bike repair initiative, all aimed at supporting the homeless community in Wyoming.
Impact
WCH has successfully provided essential services such as a day center, free laundry, and shower facilities, significantly improving the quality of life for homeless individuals in Cheyenne. The organization collaborates with other social service agencies to ensure comprehensive support for those in need.
