Our Story
Founded by Claudine Leary, a survivor of the Rwandan genocide, Watoto Read was established in 2015 to advocate for the education of children and young adults in refugee camps, particularly in Chad. Claudine's journey from a refugee camp to a champion for education highlights the transformative power of learning.
Impact
Since its inception, Watoto Read has raised over $80,000, funding the construction of classrooms and benches, which has significantly increased school attendance rates among children, especially girls. Attendance rose from 65% to 95% after distributing school kits.
