Our Story
The Volunteer Referral Center (VRC) was established in 1976 to meet the growing demand for volunteers in New York City's social service agencies and cultural institutions. Initially a project of the Yorkville Civic Council, VRC expanded its reach to all of Manhattan in 1989 and to all five boroughs by 1995. VRC believes that volunteers not only enhance programs but also gain valuable skills and become informed citizens through their experiences.

VRC has successfully connected countless volunteers with various organizations, significantly enhancing community engagement and support.
