Our Story

The Visual Resources Association (VRA) was established in 1982, evolving from informal gatherings of visual resources curators. Initially focused on managing art slide collections, the VRA has grown into a pivotal organization addressing the complexities of image management, digital media, and copyright issues. The formation of the Visual Resources Association Foundation (VRAF) has further enhanced public and professional awareness of visual resources.

Impact

The VRA has significantly advanced the field of visual resources management, enhancing public understanding of copyright and providing vital educational opportunities through workshops and conferences. The merger of its 501(c)6 organization with the VRAF has amplified its outreach and impact.
