Inspired by her own journey to recovery, Lisa Livingston founded The BreakAway in memory of her friend Nicole. With community support, a plan was developed, a suitable building was located, and a program was created to serve women in Southern Indiana. The grand opening on October 30th, 2017, marked the establishment of the first recovery residence for women in Floyd County, Indiana.
The BreakAway provides a safe, abstinence-focused environment that fosters recovery. Research indicates that long-term recovery facilities like The BreakAway lead to positive outcomes, including higher reunification rates with families, increased employment, lower re-arrest rates, and sustained abstinence from substance abuse.
