In July 2000, ten representatives from South Carolina participated in a national symposium focused on after-school programs. This event, sponsored by the Afterschool Alliance and the Disney Institute, sparked a vision for enhancing after-school services in the state. The team returned with a commitment to establishing quality programs that support the needs of children and youth.
