Our Story
In rural Iowa, agriculture is a cornerstone of the community, yet many children remain unaware of where their food originates. Misconceptions abound, with some believing that chocolate milk comes from brown cows or that food is simply produced in grocery stores. Recognizing this gap in knowledge, Siouxland Agriculture in the Classroom was established by a dedicated group of individuals passionate about enhancing agricultural education. This nonprofit organization aims to bridge the divide between producers and consumers, ensuring that students understand the critical role agriculture plays in their lives.
Through innovative programming, Siouxland Agriculture in the Classroom provides students across a seven-county area with the opportunity to learn about food production and the importance of agriculture. By integrating agriculture into school curricula, the organization equips teachers with lesson plans and resources, fostering a deeper understanding of food origins among the youth.
