About Samaritan Center

Samaritan Center began in 1981 when seven city churches united to address the urgent need for emergency food services after the closure of Unity Kitchen. This grassroots effort quickly evolved into an independent organization that embraces all faiths and serves anyone in need. Located in Syracuse, New York, the Center provides hot, nutritious meals daily, fostering a sense of community and support for those struggling with hunger and poverty.

Our Impact

Each year, Samaritan Center serves over 88,000 meals, thanks to the dedication of more than 1,000 community volunteers who prepare and serve meals, distribute toiletries, and provide essential services. The Center also offers direct case management and connects guests with vital resources and programs that promote hope and opportunity for a better future.
