Our Story

The Saco Salmon Restoration Alliance & Hatchery, originally founded in 1975, evolved from the Saco River Salmon Club to focus on the recovery of wild Atlantic salmon in the Saco River watershed. With a hatchery established in 1997, SSRAH is dedicated to producing wild sea-run Atlantic salmon and restoring their habitats.

Impact

SSRAH has successfully released wild Atlantic salmon broodstock and planted over 14,000 eyed-up salmon eggs in local streams. The organization emphasizes habitat restoration and natural egg planting methods to foster a self-sustaining salmon population.
