Profound Gentlemen

Our Story

Profound Gentlemen was founded by two Charlotte Mecklenburg teachers, Jason Terrell and Mario Jovan Shaw, who recognized the challenges faced by male educators of color. They established this organization to foster conversations about educational equity and to support these educators through coaching, peer networks, and development opportunities.

Impact

Since its inception, Profound Gentlemen has achieved a remarkable retention rate of 92% among its members, with 37% advancing to leadership positions and 22% receiving promotions. The organization is dedicated to empowering male educators of color to enhance the educational experiences of boys of color.
