Partners for Environmental Justice (PEJ) was established in the mid-1990s by dedicated citizens from three Episcopal churches in Raleigh. This grassroots initiative emerged to tackle pressing local environmental justice issues, such as flooding, trash dumping, and invasive species, while fostering community pride and economic development.
Since its inception, PEJ has successfully raised over $80,000, collaborated with more than 20 local community groups, and secured over $1.2 million in future bond funding for Raleigh’s first Wetland Educational Park.
