Norman Care Association's Vans

Our Story

In February 2022, Norman Care Association's Vans launched a flagship program offering free on-demand transportation to unhoused individuals in Norman, Oklahoma. Since then, the organization has logged around 100,000 miles, providing tens of thousands of rides primarily through the dedication of volunteers using their personal vehicles. In January 2023, the team expanded by hiring two part-time drivers, and in April, a hybrid Toyota Sienna was added to the fleet. By July 2023, a third part-time driver joined the mission.

Impact

Norman Care Association's Vans has successfully negotiated a mileage reimbursement program with the City of Norman, benefiting all agencies providing transportation services for the unhoused. The organization is now an official member of the Cleveland County Continuum of Care and was honored with the 2022 City of Norman Humanitarian Award, alongside receiving 501(c)(3) status as a public charitable organization.
