Our Story
New England Steam Corporation (NESCo) was founded in 2013 with a mission to restore and operate the Maine Central steam locomotive #470, the last mainline passenger steam locomotive in New England. This initiative is driven by a dedicated group of volunteers committed to preserving vanishing trades and skills through hands-on training and technical knowledge sharing.
Impact
The restoration of Maine Central #470 is not just about preserving a significant piece of transportation history; it also aims to boost the local economy through increased tourism and support for local businesses. Once operational, this historic locomotive is expected to generate substantial revenue for ongoing maintenance and community growth.
