The Mineral County Community Foundation was established in 1994 in response to the economic crisis following the closure of the Crown Pacific sawmill in Superior. A dedicated group of citizens came together to find solutions, leading to the foundation's incorporation. With a generous gift from Japanese businessman Akira Yamaguchi, MCCF created a permanent endowment fund to support community needs.
MCCF has successfully hosted various community projects, including a youth center, community garden, and an annual car show. Grants to local non-profits and scholarships for students have directly benefited numerous initiatives in Mineral County.
