The Michaux-St. James Foundation, established in 1999, emerged from the collective efforts of Old River Trail residents dedicated to addressing community challenges. Their activism led to the restoration of St. James Chapel and the installation of historical markers that celebrate local heritage.
Through dedicated efforts, the foundation has restored St. James Chapel to its 1890’s glory and installed four historical markers that honor significant aspects of local history, including Native American and African-American contributions.
