About Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition
Founded in 1991 by passionate women, the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC) emerged from a pressing need to address the lack of attention to breast cancer. This grassroots movement led Massachusetts to become the first state to declare breast cancer an epidemic. MBCC established the Silent Spring Institute to explore the environmental links to breast cancer, positioning itself as the state's leading organization in this vital area.
Impact of MBCC
MBCC has achieved significant victories in advocating for the elimination of harmful chemicals from consumer products. Through partnerships in federally-funded research studies, MBCC has enhanced the scientific understanding of PFAS exposure and its health effects on both adults and children.
