Founded in 2017 by advocate Verniss McFarland, The Mahogany Project is the only Black trans-led community center in Texas. It aims to reduce social isolation, stigma, and violence faced by marginalized communities, providing essential services such as emergency housing resource navigation, a food pantry, and case management support.
