Support For Women Survivors Of Sex Trafficking

Our Story

Founded in 2015 by a passionate group of women in the Chicagoland area, Magdalene House Chicago was inspired by the transformative healing stories from Thistle Farms’ Magdalene House in Nashville. This nonprofit organization was officially incorporated in August 2016, with a mission to provide hope and healing to women survivors of sex trafficking. In 2022, MHC opened its doors to welcome the first women survivors into a nurturing community, offering a safe haven for recovery.

Impact

In Chicago, an estimated 16,000-25,000 women and girls are involved in the commercial sex trade each year, yet there are fewer than 50 beds available statewide for adult women survivors. Magdalene House Chicago is dedicated to changing this narrative. With a survivor-led approach, MHC ensures access to safe housing, financial independence, and a supportive community. Remarkably, 75% of graduates continue to lead healthy, financially independent lives.
