Founded in 1977 by then-Mayor Paul Soglin, Madison Development Corporation (MDC) was established to utilize federal Community Development Block Grant funds for economic growth. Over the years, MDC has focused on providing essential gap financing to small businesses and developing affordable workforce housing in Madison and Dane County.
Since its inception, MDC has provided loans to over 450 businesses, totaling more than $35 million, resulting in the creation of over 5,000 quality jobs in Dane County. Additionally, MDC owns and manages 429 affordable workforce housing units, significantly enhancing the living conditions for local residents.
