Learning Bridge

Our Story

The inception of Learning Bridge stemmed from a heartfelt quest by our founder to find a tutor for her foster daughter. In Central Texas, while numerous organizations support children in foster care, none specifically address their unique educational needs. Alarmingly, only half of youth in foster care graduate from high school, and a staggering 25-46% face homelessness shortly after emancipation. Recognizing that these children often lag one to two grade levels behind their peers, Learning Bridge was born. After conducting needs assessments and surveys with foster parents, the pilot program, Connect for Success, launched in August 2020 at Foster Village. Due to its success, Learning Bridge became a standalone nonprofit in February 2021 and achieved 501c3 status in June 2021.
