Our Story
In 2000, a collaboration between the Puerto Rican Family Institute and the New York City Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers led to the formation of the Latino Social Work Coalition and Scholarship Fund in 2001. This initiative aims to address the shortage of Latino social workers in New York City by increasing the number of culturally and linguistically competent professionals serving low-income and underserved communities.
Our Impact
The Latino Social Work Coalition and Scholarship Fund has significantly advanced social work and mental health within the Latino community. By providing essential support, resources, and opportunities for aspiring Latino social workers, the Coalition addresses critical social issues and fosters community well-being.
Why Donate?
Your generous support creates more opportunities for Latino and bilingual social workers, enabling the Coalition to offer scholarships and professional development that empower individuals to enter the field and advocate for mental health parity.
