HomeSource East Tennessee

Our Story

Born from a community redlining protest, HomeSource East Tennessee was established by Knoxville’s Partnership for Neighborhood Improvement in the late 1980s. This coalition of bank leaders and residents united to tackle the pressing issues of substandard and affordable housing in the Knoxville area. Recognizing that no single entity could address these challenges alone, HomeSource collaborates with local governments, businesses, and citizens to create affordable housing opportunities for Knox County and the East Tennessee region.

Impact

Since joining NeighborWorks® America in December 1998, HomeSource East Tennessee has successfully graduated over 5,000 individuals from its Homebuyer Education program, with more than 2,000 transitioning from tenants to proud homeowners. This transformation fosters real investment in neighborhoods and strengthens the local economy.
