Our Story
Founded in early 2018, Ke Ao Hāli'i emerged from a community effort to protect 46 acres of pristine coastline in Hāna. The organization was officially registered in April 2018 and received 501(c)(3) status in June 2018. Its mission is to preserve the natural and cultural resources of the Hāna moku while supporting traditional practices of Native Hawaiians.
Impact
Ke Ao Hāli'i has successfully acquired multiple parcels of land for conservation, including 60 acres at Maka‘alae and 33 acres at Pu‘u Ka‘uiki. These efforts protect the coastline from commercial development and ensure access for native families.
