Our Story

Founded in 2010 by Tom Costello Jr. and Nancy, The Joy of Sox emerged from a heartfelt realization about the critical need for socks among the homeless. After volunteering at a soup kitchen and learning from a podiatrist about the severe foot issues faced by those without clean socks, Tom took action. Distributing socks at shelters revealed the profound impact this simple gesture had on the lives of individuals in need.

Our Impact

The Joy of Sox has successfully collected and distributed hundreds of thousands of new socks to homeless individuals in the Philadelphia area and across the United States, with international efforts extending to Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Uganda. This mission significantly enhances the quality of life for thousands.
