Our Story
In 2014, members of Christ Greenfield Lutheran Church began connecting with the homeless and working poor in downtown Mesa, Arizona. Initially, the focus was on providing help, but it soon became clear that listening and building relationships were essential. This led to the creation of La Mesa, which means "The Table." What started as simple meals together evolved into a transformative community where hope is restored, loneliness is replaced with love, and individuals trapped in cycles of addiction and poverty find pathways to brighter futures.
At La Mesa, the joy of connecting over meals fosters an environment where miracles can happen. Jesus emphasized the importance of sharing meals, turning ordinary gatherings into life-changing experiences. This spirit of community is at the heart of La Mesa, where everyone is welcome at the table.
The vision is to cultivate communities free from systemic poverty, where loneliness is not the only option, and homelessness becomes a choice. The meals served are just the beginning; they spark conversations and connections that empower Mesa locals to work, laugh, love, and serve together, ultimately changing the future of Mesa and beyond.
