Our Story

The Holiday Cards for Our Military Challenge began in 2003 as a heartfelt family tradition initiated by Dr. Laura Landerman-Garber. What started as a simple act of kindness grew into a nationwide movement, especially after a successful campaign in 2017 that sent 17,000 cards to a family friend aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt. In 2018, the organization became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, expanding its mission to connect with U.S. troops, veterans, and military families year-round.

Impact

Since its inception, nearly 1 million cards have been sent to military personnel, significantly boosting morale and providing a tangible connection to home. The initiative has also launched Cards2Connect, which sends messages of support to veterans and military families during challenging times, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
