About Helping Our Brothers & Sisters

Helping Our Brothers and Sisters (HOBS) began as a heartfelt annual dinner on November 10th, honoring both gay and straight veterans of the Marine Corps. Since gaining federal 501c3 status in 2008, HOBS has evolved into a vital support network for LGBTQ veterans, particularly those grappling with PTSD and other chronic issues. By connecting with local support organizations, HOBS addresses the unique needs of GLBT clients who often fall through the cracks of traditional social services.

Our Impact

HOBS provides essential mentoring and short-term financial assistance to U.S. combat veterans, focusing on those in the LGBTQ community. The organization has made a significant difference in the lives of many veterans, including the late gay rights icon Frank Kameny, by offering both financial and emotional support during their times of need.
