Our Story

In the early 2000s, Kyle Smith, a newly qualified RN, discovered a young mother in Deep South Dade struggling to keep her baby alive on a ventilator due to lack of resources. After a tragic incident, Kyle, alongside Joanie Ippolito, took a bold step by mortgaging their homes to establish a nursing center for disadvantaged children with complex illnesses. In 2006, PATCHES PPEC was born, a licensed, not-for-profit pediatric nursing center dedicated to providing professional nursing services, therapies, and education.
