Heart of Clay: A Journey of Redemption
Heart of Clay began in the summer of 2014 with heartfelt conversations over coffee, leading to a community meeting in Dilworth focused on jail ministry. By January 2015, a dedicated Board of Directors was formed, and by June of that year, the mission statement and statement of faith were established. The organization received its 501(c)(3) designation, marking the beginning of a transformative journey.
In April 2017, Heart of Clay opened its first transitional home for men, followed by a women’s home in 2018 and a second men’s home in 2019. To date, over 150 men and women have been served, helping them reintegrate into society after incarceration. Daily programming commenced in the Clay County Correctional Facility in the fall of 2018, supported by over 20 volunteers who facilitate faith-based classes. Additionally, efforts extend to the West Central Juvenile Center in Moorhead, nurturing the next generation.
