In the early 1980s, Mary Jane and Jack Hanley recognized a critical gap in addiction treatment options in South Florida. Their personal experience led to the establishment of the Hanley Center and Hanley Foundation, dedicated to providing comprehensive substance use treatment and support.

In 2022, the Hanley Foundation delivered $7,150,000 in prevention and education services, positively impacting nearly 30,000 students, parents, and caregivers across 34 counties in Florida.
