Our Story

Founded in 1996 by student organizer Jason Foster and educator Joe Fontana, Global Visionaries emerged from a vision shared by high school students to foster a more peaceful and just society. The journey began with Youth Environmental Summits in the 1990s, uniting over 300 students from around the globe to address pressing environmental issues and cultivate leadership skills. Since then, Global Visionaries has engaged over 3,500 youth in transformative programs that include building homes, schools, and community centers in Guatemala, as well as planting over 37,000 trees.

Impact

Each year, Global Visionaries serves over 300 students from the US and Guatemala, empowering them to become agents of change through youth-led retreats, workshops, and service projects. Participants leave with enhanced leadership skills and a commitment to social justice and environmental sustainability.
