For over 30 years, Genesee Waterways Center has been a beacon for recreational and competitive rowing, sculling, and kayaking in the Greater Rochester area. This nonprofit organization has not only fostered a love for water sports but has also supported the growth of rowing startups by providing essential resources such as equipment loans, coaching, and infrastructure support. The center operates the only human-made whitewater park in New York at Erie Canal Lock 32, offering a unique venue for water activities and ensuring safe access to the Genesee River.
