Our Story
The Friends of Herrontown Woods was established by dedicated volunteers in 2013 to restore and maintain the Herrontown Woods preserve, a cherished area originally donated by Oswald and Elizabeth Veblen in the 1950s. This organization is committed to protecting and rehabilitating the historic Veblen House and its surrounding structures while promoting public education and community stewardship of the natural and cultural heritage.
Our Impact
FOHW has made significant strides in enhancing public access and community engagement with nature by successfully clearing trails, preventing the demolition of the Veblen House, and expanding the preserve.
