Our Story
In 2010, John and Mary Lou Auxier founded the Free Medical Clinic of Oak Ridge in response to the pressing healthcare needs of rural and minority, low-income, and uninsured residents in Appalachia. Their compassion mobilized a dedicated team of medical and non-medical volunteers, transforming lives in the community. What began in Oak Ridge has expanded to multiple locations, including a Mobile Clinic Unit and various Medical Events, serving families across surrounding counties. Since its inception, FMC has facilitated over 75,000 patient encounters, delivering millions of dollars in essential medical care. The legacy of John and Mary Lou continues to inspire the mission of FMC, ensuring that no one in the community is left without care.
