Food At First

Our Story

Food At First is a dedicated non-profit organization in Ames, Iowa, committed to combating hunger and food insecurity. Through a daily free meal program and the Food at First Free Market, anyone struggling with food access can receive meals without any questions asked. Most of the food served comes from local grocery stores, restaurants, and Iowa State University, showcasing a community effort to reduce food waste.

Impact

In 2019 alone, Food At First served over 43,000 individuals through the Free Market and provided 26,500 meals through the Free Meal program. This initiative not only addresses hunger but also helps minimize food waste in the community.
