Our Story

Episcopal Community Services of San Francisco (ECS) has a rich history dating back to 1894, beginning with the Mission of the Good Samaritan. This small relief center evolved into a beacon of hope for the vulnerable, leading to the formation of the Episcopal Sanctuary in 1983 to address the growing homelessness crisis. In 1989, these two missions united to create ECS, which has since become the largest provider of supportive housing and homeless services in San Francisco.

Impact

Today, ECS offers a comprehensive continuum of care, including supportive housing, workforce development, and behavioral health services, ensuring dignity and respect for all individuals.
