The Environmental Action Committee of West Marin was founded in 1971 by passionate local citizens, including environmentalist Jerry Friedman. This organization is dedicated to protecting the coastal regions of Marin County from environmental threats through advocacy, education, and community engagement.
In 2023, EAC mobilized over 51 volunteers for clean-up events, successfully removing 748 lbs. of trash and 133 lbs. of recycling from vital wildlife habitats. This effort has significantly contributed to the preservation of West Marin's unique ecosystems.
