Our Story
In 1995, alarming statistics revealed that Cherokee and Crawford counties had the highest rates of child sexual abuse in the region. This led to the formation of the Crawford County Sexual Abuse Task Force in 1997, which ultimately established the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) in 1999. Initially located within the Family Resource Center, the CAC moved to its own facility in 2001, ensuring dedicated support for victims. Serving primarily Crawford and Cherokee Counties, the CAC also extends its services to other Southeast Kansas areas, providing forensic interviews, advocacy, and community education.
