Our Story
Founded in 1889, the Champaign County Humane Society has a long-standing commitment to animal welfare. Initially established to protect both children and animals, CCHS has evolved to focus on rescuing and rehabilitating stray and abandoned pets. With a rich history of community involvement, the organization opened its first shelter in 1954 and has been serving the Champaign County area from its Urbana location since 1988.
