Our Story
The Central Winds: A Music Educators’ Wind Ensemble, established in 1984, has been a cornerstone of music education in Central New York. Originally known as the Syracuse Wind Symphony, this ensemble was founded by dedicated music educators to provide exceptional local musicians with valuable performance opportunities. In 1987, the group reorganized under the Onondaga County Music Educators’ Association, focusing on supporting instrumental music educators through professional-level performances and educational activities.
