Our Story

Founded in 1999, the Center for Urban Rehabilitation and Empowerment (C.U.R.E.) is dedicated to transforming lives through affordable housing in Yonkers, New York. Executive Director James Simmons, a lifelong resident of Southwest Yonkers, envisioned a community where everyone has access to clean and safe housing. C.U.R.E. began its journey by revitalizing the historic Gazette building, now Zuppa’s Restaurant, and has since expanded its efforts to include numerous projects in the Warburton Avenue Urban Renewal area. Over the years, C.U.R.E. has successfully developed affordable townhomes and condominiums, significantly enhancing the quality of life for residents in the region.

Impact

With millions of dollars invested in home repairs and renovations, C.U.R.E. has made a profound difference in the living conditions of Yonkers and the greater Westchester County area.
