Our Story

Founded in 1979 by St. John’s Episcopal Church, the Cecil and Grace Beans Soup Kitchen began as a humble Saturday breakfast service. Under the leadership of Grace Bean in 1985, the kitchen expanded to provide five meals a week, fueled by dedicated fundraising efforts. Achieving 501(c)(3) status in 2015, the kitchen continues to honor the legacy of Grace and Cecil Bean, who devoted their lives to feeding the hungry.

Impact

Today, the soup kitchen serves over 700 meals weekly, making a significant impact on food insecurity in the Norristown community.
