Our Story
Cares of Washington has been dedicated to empowering individuals with low incomes and disabilities for over 40 years. Established in 1980 in Seattle, the organization began as the International Association of Machinists Center for Administrating Rehabilitation and Employment Services, focusing on returning injured Boeing Machinists to work. After the national IAM CARES organization closed in 2003, the Puget Sound office became an independent 501c3 nonprofit, expanding its mission to serve a broader community across Snohomish, King, Pierce, and Kitsap counties.
