About the Cape Verdean Association
Founded in 1990, the Cape Verdean Association in New Bedford Inc. emerged from a vision to create a vibrant home for Cape Verdean culture. The historic Strand Theatre, once in ruins, became a beacon of hope as dedicated volunteers worked tirelessly to restore it. Incorporated in 1995, the Association continues to transform this space into the Cape Verdean Cultural Community Center, fostering cultural integration and community engagement.
Impact on the Community
Each year, CVA-NB celebrates International Women's Day and advocates for women's rights, while also providing Thanksgiving turkeys to families in need. This commitment to outreach and service strengthens the fabric of the New Bedford community.
