Cancer Support Community North Texas (CSCNT) traces its roots back to a small yellow house in Santa Monica, California, where the vision of Harriet and Dr. Harold Benjamin began to change the way society addresses cancer. After Harriet's diagnosis in 1972, Dr. Benjamin sought to create a supportive community for cancer patients and their families, offering emotional and social support free of charge. This vision blossomed into The Wellness Community, which opened its doors in 1982.

Inspired by the experiences of Gilda Radner, a beloved comedian who sought similar support during her battle with ovarian cancer, Gilda's Club was founded in 1995. In 2009, these two organizations merged to form the Cancer Support Community, expanding their reach and services to those in need.

In North Texas, a dedicated group of women recognized the need for a local Gilda's Club, leading to the establishment of Gilda's Club North Texas in 2002. This initiative evolved into Cancer Support Community North Texas, with multiple locations across the metroplex, including the Texas Health Dallas campus. The organization has adapted to challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, by transitioning to virtual support services, allowing them to reach even more individuals in need.
