Our Story
The California Indian Environmental Alliance (CIEA) was established in 2006 at the request of California Tribal leadership to tackle the toxic legacy of mercury from the Gold Rush. With a mission to protect and restore the cultural traditions and environmental health of California Indian Peoples, CIEA collaborates with over eighty Tribes in Northern California to enhance their participation in decision-making processes affecting water quality.
Impact
CIEA provides essential technical support to California Tribes, focusing on water quality and fostering collaboration among Tribes and government agencies. Annually, CIEA facilitates seven Tribal environmental strategy meetings, allowing Tribes to share best practices and engage in community-driven strategies.
Why Donate?
