Our Story
The California Film Institute is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to celebrating film through year-round screenings at the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center and the Sequoia Cinema. It hosts the renowned Mill Valley Film Festival and DocLands Documentary Film Festival, while nurturing the next generation of filmmakers through educational programs.
Impact
CAFILM has made remarkable progress in promoting inclusion within the film industry, particularly through the Mind the Gap initiative, which aims for 50% female representation among filmmakers at the Mill Valley Film Festival. This commitment has resulted in a significant percentage of female filmmakers being showcased, exceeding industry standards.
