About Burgettstown Community Library

The Burgettstown Community Library has been a cornerstone of the community since its inception in the early 1940s, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Junior Women’s Club. Originally located on Railroad Street, the library has undergone several transformations, moving to its current location on Kerr Street in 1956. Over the years, significant expansions have quadrupled its space, allowing for a large meeting room and a display area for the Fort Vance Historical Society.

In 2004, a generous bequest from the estate of Eugene and Nell Petrucci, combined with a Keystone Grant, enabled further renovations and improvements, including enhanced accessibility and a new parking facility. The library's rich history is supported by the contributions of many dedicated individuals, including Katherine Pyle and Elizabeth Scott, who have helped shape this beloved community asset.

Burgettstown Community Library has been recognized with a Bronze Star from the PA Forward Star Program for its outstanding services to the community, reflecting its commitment to promoting literacy and lifelong learning.
