Our Story
Access Ability Wisconsin, Inc. (AAW) is a grassroots nonprofit organization founded in 2013 by passionate individuals from Dane County. The mission is to improve outdoor access for individuals with mobility challenges, particularly wheelchair users. Since becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2017, AAW has expanded its fleet of outdoor wheelchairs, aiming to provide at least one all-terrain outdoor wheelchair in each of Wisconsin's 72 counties.
Impact
Members of AAW report significant increases in independence, dignity, and freedom, allowing them to enjoy the great outdoors with family and friends or on their own. The organization has successfully provided outdoor wheelchairs at no cost to individuals with mobility limitations, facilitating access to nature and recreational experiences.
