Our Story

Founded in 1997, 518 ElevatED, formerly known as Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar, was established by Charles Buchanan and William Barnet to tackle the educational disparities faced by local youth. The organization is dedicated to providing personalized academic support, long-term mentoring, and financial assistance to underserved students in Albany, Schenectady, and Troy, NY.

Impact

As of 2022, over 340 local students have successfully earned their college degrees, with 250 high school and college students currently benefiting from our programs. This demonstrates the significant impact 518 ElevatED has on education in the Capital Region.
